Description:
Kinma is a unique child-centred learning
environment that offers innovative programs for
children in their primary and preschool years.
Kinma offers an education where the
individuality of each child is celebrated, and
where learning is meaningful and holistic.
Children, teachers and parents work together to
create a dynamic educational community in which
all are partners in the process.
Our Educational Philosophy:
Kinma offers primary, preschool and playgroup in
a relaxed environment where children are safe to
be themselves. The school deliberately limits
its size so that relationships, learning, and
life skills can develop in a caring, safe
community. Class sizes are small, multi-aged,
and non-competitive. There is an emphasis on
tolerance and effective communication. Children
have the opportunity to develop self-awareness
and self-discipline, taking responsibility for
themselves, others and their environment.
Cooperation, trust, integrity and friendship are
the building blocks of our educational
philosophy. Through an understanding of child
development and individual learning styles, our
teachers work together with the students to
develop programs that foster self-determination,
critical thinking and the desire to learn.
The children are encouraged to engage at an
individual level suitable to their knowledge,
needs and abilities. As a result, students'
success generates confidence and motivation to
meet the next challenge. As the children's
interests and passions are the springboard for
learning activities, enthusiasm is plentiful!
Kinma School receives the highest level of
registration possible from the NSW Board of
Studies, and is recognised at university level
as one of the few schools in Australia
practicing learner-directed education.
