Description:
The European Democratic Education Community (EUDEC) is a growing network of schools and individuals dedicated to the democratisation of schooling and education in Europe.

Its aims:

To support all forms of democratic education throughout Europe
To promote democratic education as the sensible educational model for all democratic states
To establish, in legislation, the right to found and attend democratic schools and to provide aid and support to democratic schools and start-up groups
To facilitate exchange of information between democratic schools in Europe and create connections between schools for cooperation and mutual learning

The idea for a network grew out of the cooperative planning efforts for EUDEC 2008, which has involved an active group of students, teachers and organisers from the UK, Germany, Denmark, Austria, Poland, the Netherlands and Finland. One of the central aims of EUDEC 2008 is to launch this new network as a means of continuing the dialogue and exchange between individuals, schools and organisations involved in democratic education in Europe. The first general meeting of the European Democratic Education Community will be held during the conference wrap-up session. All participants are invited to attend.

Membership is open to schools, organisations and individuals.
