Association of educators, researches and artists committed to bring the movement of democratic education into Brazil. With the specialization course in democratic education, offered in many different cities and partnerships with other organizations, it has united educators and organizations that were willing to change everyday life in school.

The Institute for the Democratization of Education in Brazil, the organization responsible for the 15th IDEC, now is named POLITEIA Democratic Education.

POLITEIA, from Greek, refers to a political being, which aspires to live in a community structured as polys to exercise, in its fullness, skills and talents that makes its uniqueness. That is what democratic education is about: a proposal for schools, cooperatives and associations that organize them as learning communities, where young people and adults can develop, together and in its fullness, their talents and passions, and thus find their singularity.

POLITEIA also refers to a variety of webs. At democratic schools, their organization in the form of web links projects, cycles, knowledge, research, assemblies and committees that develop and connect, and connect students, educators, their paths, choices and experiences.
